Twelve drummers drumming…

December 14, 2002

I’m taking this weekend “off” (I’m at home), and already we’ve made history. This is the first year my family’s gone to get our Christmas tree on a weekday. We went at around 4:30 yesterday; it was dark and in the moonlight, but we got it. Pictures to come soon.

We always go to Piper Mountain Christmas Trees in Newburgh to get ours; we go into the farm and cut down our own balsam fir. It usually takes about a half an hour to find a really good one that we’d like in our living room, but we always get a good one. This year’s no exception; it’s a really nice tree. The best part about going to Piper Mountain, though, is the donut and mulled cider you get inside once you’ve cut your tree. Mmmmm…

We’re spending today putting it up and decorating the house. We’re also going to make some cookies and Chex Mix and mulled cider (yum) I hope, so it should be a pretty busy day. Tomorrow we’ll be off to see A Christmas Carol on what I’ve heard is a very unusual set at the Penobscot Theatre. Should be fun!
