The new TSS!

September 23, 2002

Well, I said I’d give it a chance, and now I’m glad I did.

The Screen Savers came back tonight with a new set, new music, a new theme song, and a new logo. I was so excited when 7:00 rolled around that I was racing to push the record button on the VCR.

In short, I loved it. The new gadgets on the set (touchscreen, purty) and the overall design are excellent, and the show was still the same (I hope it stays that way). I love the new graphics, and I think the show could really go places while still staying the kind of show I love. The funniest part: the opening sequence. Marty on a bike – reminds me of that Call-a-Thon a while back gone oh-so-wrong. Glad to see the other people on the show got credit, too. We’ll see where it goes from here.

Along with this, I launched a new layout for freegrandmamorrone.com. It now has the old TSS graphics for those who want a taste of the old set and old show. That’ll be the place I hang around when I need some time to reminisce.

Here I sit

September 22, 2002

Here I sit.

I wonder if there’s anything new on Slashdot. Nope.

I wonder if Wired’s got any new stories. Nope.

Anything happening on Leoville or the TechTV boards? Nope.

Hmm. Better check Slashdot again. Anything? Nope.

Oh, I have homework? I’ll do that later. I’m really busy right now. I still love procrastination.

Ooh, gotta check my e-mail. And Slashdot.

Stupid printer

September 19, 2002

I needed a sign for my door to tell people who I am, and I cooked one up in Photoshop Elements 2 a couple hours ago. I’ve been trying to print it, but it always comes out too dark. Must be just not good enough of a printer for it. Anyway, if I had been able to use this first choice, this is what would be on my door right now. What actually ends up on there is anyone’s guess.

It’s all about Megan

September 19, 2002

Megan Morrone has a new blog – check it out at jumpingmonkeys.com!

Also, she recommended one of the best Switch parodies I’ve seen so far as the Site of the Nite on TSS tonight.

And I have to formally congratulate her on her pregnancy. That baby’s gonna be one of the coolest people out there in the next generation.

Why the post about Megan? Because she’s cool. And I watched the segment where my site was #1 on a Twisted List. 🙂

Sometimes you just need something to do

September 18, 2002

Who says I can’t be productive when I’m watching TSS? While I was watching a couple reruns of the show this morning, I got done my art homework. The only rule for this 10×12 grid of squares was that white segments touching a grid line had to be black on the other side of the grid. It came out to be a pretty amazing collection of doodles. The art teacher kinda liked it, too. The next step is picking a block of 9 of these and blowing them up to a 15-inch by 15-inch piece of illustration board. It actually turned out to be easier than I had expected. (click the picture for a bigger version)

What it means to be from Maine, part 15

September 18, 2002

Note: this is not the wave of the future for Maine Internet sites, nor should it be taken as a representation of the sites that are existing now based out of Maine, even if this is the only Maine-based site you’ve ever heard of.

Dad’s office is down the street from these guys.

Warmfront coming in

September 16, 2002

Last year’s 4th floor RA Adam’s band Warmfront is releasing a new album Thursday. It’s gonna be available at Bull Moose and a few other places, too, from what I’ve heard.

I can say I knew him way back when. Aww yeah.

Why I’ll never be in tech support

September 16, 2002

Jamie like Macs.

Jamie see ad for Gateway with Profile 4 jumping over iMac. Jamie get very angry. Jamie call up Gateway at 1-800-GATEWAY and tell Gateway about computer that blew up. Jamie ask whether he should get Profile or iMac. Jamie provide evidence on why iMac is better. Jamie tell tech support people that ad is lie. Jamie want address of Gateway founder. Jamie get told that he should write letter next time.

It was a fun half an hour. 😀
