Merry Christmas!

December 24, 2002

6 1/2 hours and counting. Not much to say other than…

Merry Christmas!

Have a great one, everybody! I want to hear what everyone did and what everyone got. I’ll run down the basics after I catch my breath from everything I’m doing over the next couple of days.

Remember to again be thankful for what you have been given, and remember the original intent of the holiday.

Think about it… after the twelve days of Christmas, do you really have:

12 partridges in pear trees
22 turtle doves
30 French hens
36 calling birds
40 golden rings
42 geese a-laying
42 swans a-swimming
40 maids a-milking
36 ladies dancing
30 lords a-leaping
22 pipers piping
12 drummers drumming

That’s a lot of geese a-laying.

Lookie what I found!

I JUST CAN’T WAIT TO GET HOME (2000)
sung to ‘I Just Can’t Wait to Be King’

It’s gonna be a great weekend
I know I just can’t wait
Some time off from from a week at school
I’ll love it, no debate

It’s gonna be a time for me
To catch up on my sleep
A time in which I can relax
A trait I’d like to keep

But right now it’s impossible to roam

Oh I just can’t wait to get home!

Won’t be any homework
Won’t be any bell rings
Won’t be any lectures

I really wish we were…

Let every student know they’re not alone
They must all know that they don’t have to groan
They’re out of here into a work-free zone

Oh I just can’t wait to get home!
Oh I just can’t wait to get home!
Oh I just can’t wait to get home!

OK, so it wasn’t one of my better parodies. But it’s one of the only relevant ones for right now – nothing much has changed since high school. 🙂

Apparently this is why Froogle, Google’s new price comparison service, is still in beta.

Twelve drummers drumming…

December 14, 2002

I’m taking this weekend “off” (I’m at home), and already we’ve made history. This is the first year my family’s gone to get our Christmas tree on a weekday. We went at around 4:30 yesterday; it was dark and in the moonlight, but we got it. Pictures to come soon.

We always go to Piper Mountain Christmas Trees in Newburgh to get ours; we go into the farm and cut down our own balsam fir. It usually takes about a half an hour to find a really good one that we’d like in our living room, but we always get a good one. This year’s no exception; it’s a really nice tree. The best part about going to Piper Mountain, though, is the donut and mulled cider you get inside once you’ve cut your tree. Mmmmm…

We’re spending today putting it up and decorating the house. We’re also going to make some cookies and Chex Mix and mulled cider (yum) I hope, so it should be a pretty busy day. Tomorrow we’ll be off to see A Christmas Carol on what I’ve heard is a very unusual set at the Penobscot Theatre. Should be fun!

Someday I’ll learn not to procrastinate.

(Of course, I’ve been putting that off for years.)
