The Revenge of the S—– S—–

April 30, 2005

OK, if I didn’t already love Skype, I do now.

The VoIP technology has allowed the original, wonderful crew to reunite and create a new show.

I love podcasts.

And in case there was any doubt: I loved that TSS.

They say it just kinda hits you

All I have left is a couple of critique and presentation sessions at which I have to give feedback.

I’ve completed all my work, presentations, and exams in college.

I just completed what I think was the last written test of my life.

Wow.

Dropping like flies

As far as my photography class is concerned, you may want to see the photos I chose for my semester project and read my artist’s statement (mentioned previously here) at The Present Past.

BMG’s “free” plea

April 23, 2005

I’m going through some of the code I’ve written over the last year. One of the little apps I wrote was a calculator to see how much the “12 CDs for the price of 1” plan over at BMG actually cost. Truth be told, you actually pay $54.25 when all is done; that’s $4.17 per CD. The added cost is that pesky shipping cost that they write about in the fine print.

I still prefer yourmusic.com from BMG: $5.99 for a CD a month that you pick with free shipping. I’m getting Mindi Abair’s Come As You Are in a couple of days.

The healthy choice

April 22, 2005

What’s the deal with light beer? Are you really worried about what’s good for your health while you’re drinking alcohol?

And counting

April 21, 2005

My college buds may not know that I used to be a countdown master in high school. So for everyone’s enjoyment, I present the next generation of Justin Russell countdowns.

MultiMediaMagic

April 21, 2005

Last night I finished my capstone project. It was a late night, but I’m very happy with how it turned out. I present it to my class today around 2:00. The project consists of a report and a sample implementation using AppleScript and QuickTime (I might talk more about that later).

I’ve put a PDF version of my report online if you’d like to read about what I’ve been doing. It’s fairly technical, but parts of it are a good introduction to the Web, multimedia, and the convergence of the two. I believe it’s right up there with my salutatory speech as one of my best pieces of writing ever.

The report is at justinrussell.com/mmm/. It’s available under a Creative Commons Attribtion-ShareAlike license.

Inspiration by fire alarm

April 17, 2005

While hopelessly looking for new ways to procrastinate, I heard the fire alarm go off in the building next to mine. While the fire truck came to shut it off, I composed a little GarageBand track to its beat.

Oh great

So I’ve been getting a bunch of spams with, coincidentally enough, a 125 KB ZIP attachment with a generic filename.

*sigh*
